How to best take care of a linen dress?
As with most things, make sure to read the care instruction label on your linen dress before washing. One of the best things about linen is that it’s an incredibly easy fabric to take care of, able to be both machine-washed and hand-washed. Wash your linen pieces in lukewarm or cold water to preserve the colour and use a mild soap or detergent. Turn your linen dress inside out to iron while the linen is still a little damp. To remove stubborn wrinkles, lay a damp, light-colored cloth over your linen and run a warm iron on the steam setting across it. At the end of warm seasons, store your linen dresses in a cool, dry place and ensure they’re kept as flat as possible to avoid wrinkling and creasing.
How to style a midi dress?
Midi dresses are a great silhouette to have on hand, as they can be worn both casually or more formally depending on the setting. Due to their mid-length hemline (which usually sits halfway between the knee and the ankle), it’s important to keep in mind your proportions when styling. For example, wearing higher heeled shoes will elongate your legs and balance the height-shortening appearance that a mid-length hemlines can evoke. Don’t be afraid to accessorise with belts cinched at the waistline - this will help add definition to your figure.
How do you cover your arms with a sleeveless dress?
Sleeveless dresses are fantastic summer staples, but when the weather starts to cool you might find yourself needing to cover your arms for warmth. The easiest option is to throw on a complementary jacket in a fabrication such as denim or leather. This will add another layer of dimension to your look while also keeping you cosy as it gets colder. Another option is to layer a long or short-sleeve tee above or beneath your sleeveless dress. Layering a top beneath your dress will give your look an off-duty feel. If you’re craving something a little cosier, reach for your warmest knitted sweater or cardigan to complete your outfit.
