What are the basics for a man’s wardrobe?
There are a few basic pieces that every man should have in his wardrobe. Classic cut t-shirts in black or white colourways will work with a variety of different outfits, so it’s a good idea to have more than one pair of each. Button-down shirting is an incredibly versatile wardrobe staple in both cooler and warmer seasons – alternate between long and short sleeves and look for fabrics that will wear well such as cotton or linen. Denim jeans will never go out of style, so it’s worth investing in both a blue and dark wash pair. A good wardrobe is never complete without a well-fitting suit, as this can be worn to both the office or a more formal occasion. Look for classic colourways such as black, navy or grey, as these will be suitable for almost any dress code.
How can a man dress relaxed but still smart?
There are many ways a man can dress in a relaxed manner while still looking smart and polished – the key is to balance the laid back pieces in your wardrobe with more formal garments. A great example is working a pair of chinos back with a cotton t-shirt, crew neck sweater and a tailored blazer. Dark coloured denim tends to skew more formal and will ensure the look feels relaxed yet elevated, so look for slim cut black or navy wash in a slim or straight leg style, and pair with a button-down shirt or polo and well-fitting jacket.
What kind of responsibly-made fabrics are used in JAG’s men’s clothing?
In order to produce responsibly-made garments, JAG sources its fabrics from mills that have a strong social and environmental philosophy. By making conscious fabric choices, we’re able to improve our qualities and minimise impacts, which is better for both you and the Earth. Whenever possible, JAG designs prioritise natural, organic and recycled fibres. Over 60% of the linen we use for our pieces is naturally, rather than chemically, retted. Our future aim is to have 100% naturally retted linen. We use organic and recycled cotton in many of our styles, and our denim focus is on the raw material aspect – this means shifting to a more responsibly-sourced mix of recycled, organic and natural fibres.
